The joys and challenges of home education
Next Wednesday 19th October I shall be talking about the joys and challenges of home education on Radio Maria UK between 10 and 11am. It’s a phone in programme so please do call if you have any questions or comments. Even better, if you have any suggestions for what I should say please let me know in advance!
Like many (perhaps most) home educating families, we find ourselves on a journey we had not been prepared, or prepared ourselves, for. However, having started out, we are delighted to find that the views are much more spectacular than anything we could have imagined, even if there is rough terrain to clamber over at times.
Another pleasure we have discovered en route is that we are aren’t walking alone. Lots of other families are on the same journey. Some set out before us and are full of good advice about the best routes to follow and the pitfalls to avoid. Others have only just set out, yet we find that we are all walking together. Home education may start in the home and be centred around the home but it is certainly not limited to the home. That is one of its joys.
So, on Wednesday I want to make a positive case for home education. I want to share some of the wisdom we have gained through being on the way. And I would be delighted if you would join me.
P.S. The picture above does not necessarily represent a typical home educating family!
